Overview:

Reporting to the Corporate Quality Engineer Center of Excellence Manager, the Quality Engineer II provides quality engineering support to manufacturing operations by applying statistical methods, risk analysis, quality engineering principles, and continuous improvement tools to improve product quality and operational performance. This position partners with Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Food Safety & Quality teams to support commercialization, process validation, risk assessment, and resolution of quality issues while ensuring products consistently meet consumer expectations, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards.

Responsibilities What You'll Do:
  • Provide technical support in the areas of Quality Management with an emphasis on consumer requirements, regulatory compliance, continuous product quality, food safety, and productivity improvement.
  • Drive product trial and commercialization readiness by partnering cross-functionally to establish and validate product specifications, analytical methods, sampling programs, process control strategies, and quality plans that are statistically sound, fit-for-purpose, and capable of consistently meeting consumer expectations.
  • Lead the design, execution, and statistical analysis of plant trials utilizing DOE mentorship, sampling plans, and data analysis methods to ensure trial objectives are clearly defined, achieved, and supported by robust data for business decision-making.
  • Serve as the facility statistical resource by providing expertise in Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis and sampling methodologies. Mentored execution of MSA and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Initiate product and process improvements through the implementation, execution, and analysis of designed experiments, capability studies, variability reduction projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate in-process, laboratory, and manufacturing data to evaluate product quality, identify trends, assess process performance, and support data-driven decision making.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Maintenance, and Operations to develop and implement action plans that improve process capability, reduce variation, and enhance product quality.
  • Provide start-up and commercialization support for new products, equipment installations, process modifications, and capital projects to ensure robust quality system implementation and successful launch.
  • Participate in – and lead – quality risk assessments utilizing appropriate quality engineering tools to proactively identify process risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support preventive quality initiatives.
  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality, process capability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction while ensuring timely implementation and verification of effectiveness.
  • Assist in management of non-conforming product investigations by ensuring appropriate containment, product disposition, loss minimization, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and prevention of recurrence.
  • Provide technical expertise and quality engineering support to resolve manufacturing, process, analytical, and product quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain process capability studies, control plans, statistical monitoring systems, and quality metrics to improve manufacturing consistency and process control.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, regulatory inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives by providing technical quality expertise and documentation.
  • Assist in developing, revising, and implementing quality procedures, specifications, sampling plans, and work instructions.
  • Coach manufacturing personnel on statistical methods, quality tools, process control techniques, and quality engineering best practices as needed.
  • Support complaint investigations, consumer issue analysis, supplier quality activities, and corrective action programs by applying statistical analysis and risk-based decision making.
  • Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing variability, improving first-pass quality, minimizing waste, and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, Preventive Controls, and company quality systems.

Qualifications What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Science, Statistics, Quality, Chemistry, or related technical discipline.
  • 2-5 years of quality engineering, manufacturing, process engineering, or continuous improvement experience within food, beverage, consumer packaged goods, or regulated manufacturing.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis, and statistical software (Minitab preferred).
  • Experience supporting product commercialization, manufacturing process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of food safety regulations including FSMA, HACCP, GMPs, and Preventive Controls.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Works in both office and manufacturing environments. Regular exposure to manufacturing operations requiring compliance with GMP and safety requirements including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Moderate travel may be required to support other facilities, project launches, or training activities.
