Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.Position OverviewWe are seeking a Quality Engineer to provide quality assurance support to the product development team, resolving bugs, defects, and other potential issues and ensuring that specifications are met.This position is the night shift which is Monday through Thursday 6 pm to 4 am (4x10s) with a 10% shift pay premium.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, maintain, and review quality assurance procedures to assure compliance with customer and or government requirementsDevelop sampling plans, quality standards, and process control instructions for use by manufacturing in monitoring and reducing variationSupport the implementation of Product Assurance Plans (PAPs) and implement program strategies, policies, and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with internal practices and requirementsAnalyze data of production runs to ensure parts produced meet customer requirementsDevelop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluationDrive manufacturing efficiency improvements by evaluating plant-wide processes and applying process control methods or process changes as necessaryPerform quality reviews and drive disposition of nonconforming material and generate corresponding reportsProcess, investigate, and disposition RMAsMonitor production cycles and perform tests and evaluations to identify potential malfunctions and reliability issues as early as possibleAssist in quality inspection and control for satellite system and subsystem integration and testing activities including flight hardware and software integration and testing, ground support equipment, calibrations, tooling, and safetyDevelop and maintain strong working relationships with program offices, other AST organizations, vendors, and contractorsReview practices, procedures, and processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and reduce risk to product and program qualityProvide support to the quality engineering departmentEnsure assigned parts meet company quality requirementsReview design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand requirements and functional intentWork with senior engineers to perform inspection analyses, failure analyses, and testingReview corrective actions implemented in the production processIdentify root causes of production problems and recommend or implement corrective measuresPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline requiredExperienceMinimum of three years of related experience requiredFive or more years of quality system experience in an aerospace, aviation, or military manufacturing environmentExperience reading engineering blueprints and drawingsAbility to work in environments with evolving requirements and dynamic schedulesSpacecraft experience in a clean room settingExperience leading RCCAsAbility to develop performance metrics and take appropriate actionWorking knowledge of manufacturing and production standards in the aerospace industrySolid understanding of QMS principles and processes for complex electronics used in space applicationsFamiliarity with piece-part, assembly-level, and system-level inspection and verification practicesU.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident requiredPreferred QualificationsAbility to learn production sequences and company quality standardsExperience in Design Readiness Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Manufacturing Readiness ReviewsKnowledge of Quality Systems and ProcessesExperience with Preliminary Review (PR) and Material Review Board (MRB); current QMRB certification is a plusLean or Six Sigma quality engineering and root cause corrective action certificationsExperience with program and project management toolsASQE certificationUnderstanding of export control and ITAR requirementsTechnology StackQuality Management Systems (QMS)Manufacturing process control and inspection toolsData analysis and reporting toolsMicrosoft Office Suite or similar productivity softwareProgram and project management toolsPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit for prolonged periods while working at a computerAbility to traverse production and manufacturing facilitiesAbility to lift up to 15 pounds as requiredThis job description may not be inclusive to the duties and responsibilities listed.
