Information on the division:

Located in Springfield, the 70+ employee facility (100,000+ sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek’s centers of excellence for the manufacturing of medium to large complex landing gear and titanium components.

As part of the Central Division, you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, and important military programs such as F-18, F-35, C-17 and C-130.

With a strong focus on the latest technology of manufacturing processes with machining automation and techniques we aim to remain the best value producer of complex landing gear components.

Summary:

The Quality Engineer supports the Engineering and Operations departments by managing, tracking, and making decisions for parts that are flagged as non-compliant for the machining and production of commercial and military landing gear.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage and track inputs and outputs of Non-Conforming Reports (NCRs) to ensure parts are returned to production expeditiously. i.e., Initiate NCR, approval, customer submittals, RCCA’s and closure.
  • Lead, facilitate, and conduct non-conformance investigations (RCCA).
  • Manage the movement of parts through Material Review Board (MRB) quarantine.
  • NCR data analysis to track trends and issue CAPAs for repeat findings, assign responsibilities, and follow-up for completion.
  • Act as MRB Quality representative to review and approve manufacturing plans, technical documentation, and NCR rework plans.
  • Support in-house Quality Management System (QMS) and Special Process audit schedule as needed.
  • Monitor AS9100 compliance and participate in audits.
  • Document and participate in additional audits, such as EH&S, OSHA, etc. as needed.
  • Develop and provide quality training to operators, inspectors, or other needs as identified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education/training and experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an engineer in a manufacturing plant
  • Experience in Aerospace, nuclear, medical, or other regulated industry preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to work constructively within teams
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within tight timelines
  • Strong ability to make quality decisions while remaining customer focused
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
