Quality Improvement - Consultant

Job Description

Overview Location: Methodist Hospital Position: Quality Improvement Consultant Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00a - 4:30p

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Improvement Consultant to develop, coordinate, and evaluate continuous quality improvement activities across assigned populations, supporting the organizations strategic goals and enhancing patient care outcomes.

Position Overview The Quality Improvement Consultant works independently and leads specific work groups to analyze gaps in clinical care and identify barriers to care. They facilitate the organizations performance improvement processes in collaboration with project teams and leadership. This role involves developing and implementing performance improvement initiatives, conducting staff and physician training on improvement methodologies, and promoting a culture of continuous quality enhancement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate ongoing quality improvement initiatives for assigned populations.
  • Lead work groups and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address clinical care gaps and barriers.
  • Perform data analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and align interventions with organizational strategic plans.
  • Facilitate performance improvement projects, including process mapping, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Conduct training and education programs for staff and physicians on performance improvement methodologies, data analysis, and work simplification techniques.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards related to quality and patient safety.
  • Support organizational efforts to enhance care delivery, patient safety, and outcomes through continuous improvement.
  • Assist with the development of educational materials and promote best practices in quality improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree required; Masters Degree in clinical healthcare or business preferred.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in healthcare quality, performance improvement, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of data entry systems and quality measurement tools (e.g., NCQA, IDSS, IHS, electronic health records, HEDIS software) preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to perform occasional local travel (no overnight required).
  • Previous experience leading teams preferred.
  • Previous experience with process improvement initiatives preferred.
