Quality Inspector - 1st, 2nd & 3rd Shift

1st Shift: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM-5:30 PM
2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 5:30 PM-4:00 AM
3rd Shift: Friday-Sunday, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced and detail-oriented Quality Inspectors to support a fast-paced automotive manufacturing operation in Gastonia, NC.
This position is responsible for inspecting metal and mechanical components to ensure they meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
Previous manufacturing quality inspection experience is required. Candidates must be able to read blueprints and confidently use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, angle gauges, height gauges, and similar inspection equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming, in-process, and finished components
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and inspection specifications
- Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, angle gauges, and other measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Identify defects, dimensional variations, and non-conforming materials
- Document inspection results and maintain quality records
- Support quality investigations, corrective actions, and containment activities as needed
- Verify inspection equipment is properly maintained and calibrated before use
- Communicate quality concerns to production and quality leadership
- Follow all quality, safety, and customer requirements
Required Qualifications
- Previous quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience using precision measuring equipment, including calipers and micrometers
- Understanding of dimensional inspections, tolerances, and defect identification
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive, metal fabrication, machining, stamping, or mechanical component inspection experience
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Experience with CMM equipment
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, SPC, PPAPs, NCRs, and quality systems
- Technical training or certification in quality or manufacturing
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Lift up to 25 pounds as needed
- Bend, reach, squat, and perform repetitive movements
- Safely handle components and precision measuring equipment
- Accurately read measurement instruments and inspect parts
Work Environment
This position is performed on an active manufacturing production floor and may involve exposure to machinery, manufacturing noise, dust, and other typical industrial conditions.
This facility is not climate-controlled and does not have air conditioning. Candidates must be comfortable working in varying temperatures throughout their shift.
