The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing in-process, first article, and final inspections on aerospace components and assemblies to ensure compliance with customer requirements, engineering drawings, industry standards, and company quality procedures. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product integrity, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction within a precision manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform in-process, first article, and final inspections of aerospace parts and assemblies.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, GD&T, and customer requirements.
Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, and CMM reports.
Verify material certifications, process certifications, and supporting documentation for compliance.
Identify, document, and report nonconforming products and assist with corrective action investigations.
Complete inspection records, quality reports, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
Conduct visual inspections for workmanship, defects, damage, and foreign object debris (FOD).
Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement activities.
Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve quality concerns.
Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO standards, customer specifications, and company procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following all safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of 2 years of quality inspection experience in aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, or a related industry.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Working knowledge of GD&T principles.
Experience using precision measuring instruments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
Experience in aerospace manufacturing environment.
AS9100 quality system experience.
First Article Inspection (FAI) experience per AS9102.
CMM experience and report interpretation.
Certification as a Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and perform inspections for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate measuring equipment.
Visual acuity required for detailed inspection work.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and moderate noise levels.
