    Third Shift Sunday-Thursday 11p-7a

    SUMMARY: Tests and inspects products at various stages of incoming, production and SPDC processes. Supports the value streams in suspecting, containing and dispositioning non-conforming product. Compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality of products.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Reads control plans, routers, blueprints, and procedures as established for incoming, in-process and final audits.
    • Performs metallurgical testing according to established procedures and compares results against standards and Materials Certification of Compliance.
    • Utilizes statistical data to determine product status. Records and reacts to the results.
    • Properly identifies, dispositions, and analyzes test results for non-conforming material.
    • Performs PPAP/ISIR dimensional inspection layouts.
    • Performs blank audit analysis.
    • Conducts capability studies requirements.
    • Assists in performing measurement system analysis (GR&R studies).
    • Interprets engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, specifications and/or formulas and confers with management and/or engineering staff to determine quality conformance.
    • Completes all inspection requirements for annual dimensional layouts.
    • Supports and completes SPDC inspection and dimensional layout requirements.
    • Audits products to confirm specifications are met, i.e., dimensional, visual and mechanical.
    • Prepares data for presentation and evaluation using software (MS-Excel, Minitab, GageTalker, etc.).
    • Performs set-up of various sorting equipment: weight sorter, snap gages, hard gages, air gages, etc.
    • Performs incoming inspection on raw materials and subcontracted services per identified procedures and control plan requirements.
    • Demonstrates working knowledge of all computer applications, measurement equipment (CMM, Contracer, Comparator, Roundness Tester, Surface Tester, Hardness Tester, Microscopes, etc.) in the quality lab and on the shop floor.
    • Identifies all part features and corresponding defects associated with those features.
    • Complies with legal and other requirements to avoid injury and/or ill health to themselves and others.
    • Understands preventative measures and creates a safe environment by having the ability to identify potential emergency situations and reports all incidents to supervisor/ manager.
    • Adheres to the facility's current management systems for quality, environmental, health and safety
    • Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or department manager

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma/GED plus two years on-the-job experience, or a combination of experience and certificates.
    • SPC and Blueprint Reading a plus.
    • CMM experience a plus.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to read and write simple reports and correspondence.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to compute rates, conversions, and ratios.
    • Knowledge of the metric system.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Inspectors must be highly motivated with ability to work independently yet be an effective team player with other members of the Quality Assurance Department and co-workers involved in the production process.
    • Inspector must have above average mechanical ability.
    • Must have working knowledge of computer operations and relevant software.

    • The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
    • The employee is required to walk and climb or balance.
    • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

    • Responsible for working safely, adhering to the facility's environmental, health and safety policies and procedures and continually monitoring the work environment to identify and communicate to supervisor / manager current or potential environmental, health or safety concerns.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
    • Safety glasses, steel toe shoes and hearing protection are required
