Quality Inspector

Job Summary

In-Process Patrol Inspection: Periodically patrols mass production lines to verify compliance with work standards, initial/final piece quality, 4M changes, and real-time process quality to prevent mass defects.

Incoming Quality Control (IQC): Precisely inspects raw materials, parts, and outsourced components according to incoming inspection standards to prevent non-conforming items from entering production.

Key Responsibilities

In-Process Patrol Inspection

• Patrol & Inspection (First / Middle / Last Piece) / Finish product inspection

•       Conduct regular patrol inspections on production lines according to the designated schedule.

•       Inspect First-piece, Middle-piece, and Last-piece quality before, during, and after production runs.

•       Verify if actual work practices comply with Wor Standard and Control Plans.

•       Verify Lot traceability and part labeling/identification status for in-process and inventory items.

•       Randomly sample and inspect finished goods prior to shipment to ensure compliance with specifications.

•       Maintain daily patrol inspection logs and report any quality issues to the QC Manager.

• Shop-Floor 4M Change & Condition Management:

•       Specially verify and record initial products when 4M (Man, Machine, Material, Method) changes occur.

•       Monitor and verify if equipment parameters (temperature, pressure, speed, etc.) remain within standard operating ranges.

• Immediate Shop-Floor Non-Conformance Action

•       Immediately notify operators/supervisors, request temporary line stoppage, and report to the QC Manager upon detecting non-conformances.

•       Verify attachment of identification tags (Red/Hold Tag) and disposal into Red Boxes (defect bins) when defective parts occur.

Incoming Quality Control

• Material & Component Inspection

•       Perform dimensional, visual, and functional inspections and pass/fail determinations according to incoming inspection standards.

•       Review and verify consistency of supplier Mill Sheets, Certificates of Analysis (COA), and inspection reports.

•       Perform special control and document verification for initial shipments and engineered/changed parts.

•       Verify Lot traceability and labeling/identification status of incoming parts.

• Non-Conforming Product Control & Isolation

•       Enter inspection results into the MES system and report non-conformances to the QC Manager.

•       Attach non-conformance tags to rejected items and move them to designated Quarantine Areas (Hold Zone).

• Gage & Inspection Equipment Management

•       Conduct daily routine checks on measuring equipment (calipers, height gages, etc.).

• Inspection Standard Feedback

•       Request improvements and propose revisions of inspection standards to the QC Engineer upon recurring incoming defects.

Required Skills/Abilities

Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (calipers, height gages, etc.)

Operation of ASTM-standard activated carbon density and volume measurement equipment

Ability to interpret Work Standard and Inspection Standards.

Understanding of shop-floor 5S and safety regulations.

Knowledge of part identification and Lot traceability management.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Education and Experience

High school diploma GED.

1–2 years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, production, or a related field.

Experience using basic measuring and inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and visual inspection tools.

Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving throughout the manufacturing production floor during regular shift hours.

Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and performing repetitive physical motions to inspect parts and operate measuring equipment.

Visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) to detect fine manufacturing defects, color variations, and structural flaws.

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly when handling parts containers, raw material samples, and inspection tools.

Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and operating machinery.

Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety shoes, safety glasses, and ear protection.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  (Work hours/days can vary from time to time due to vacation schedules and other variables within the department that could require a temporary schedule adjustment.)
