Quality Inspector
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards, engineering specifications, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience performing visual, dimensional, and functional inspections in a manufacturing environment and possess strong knowledge of quality systems and inspection techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Verify products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns in a timely manner.
- Escalate non-conforming conditions and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Support compliance with company quality systems, manufacturing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Train and mentor team members on inspection methods, drawing interpretation, and quality procedures.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
- Participate in preventive maintenance and calibration activities for inspection equipment.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience using precision measuring instruments, including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Hard gauges
- Other quality inspection equipment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong mathematical skills, including fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and measurements.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
- Must possess close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing or quality experience preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of quality inspection, quality control, manufacturing, or production experience.
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
- Previous experience with quality management systems, compliance standards, and documentation processes is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in medical device, aerospace, automotive, or precision manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with FDA, ISO, GMP, or other regulated quality standards.
- Experience performing first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Experience mentoring or training employees on quality requirements and inspection procedures.
