We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Inspector to ensure the highest standards of product quality in our sheet metal fabrication processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and verifying that all parts and assemblies meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards before release or shipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect incoming raw materials, in-process components, and final products for dimensional accuracy, finish quality, weld integrity, and adherence to specifications.
Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), In-Process Inspections, and Final Inspections as required.
Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, and CMMs (if available).
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and tolerance specifications (GD&T knowledge preferred).
Document inspection results using quality checklists, reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality-related issues and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 (or other applicable quality standards).
Maintain records and traceability of inspection activities in accordance with internal quality systems.
Assist with calibration of inspection equipment and tools.
Participate in continuous improvement activities, root cause analysis, and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in manufacturing or mechanical discipline preferred.
2+ years of quality inspection experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Proficient in the use of hand-held measuring tools and inspection equipment.
Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, and finishing.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and GD&T symbols.
Familiarity with quality systems, ISO standards, and basic quality tools (5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, etc.).
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or in a team.
Basic computer skills; experience with ERP or QMS software is a plus.
Working Conditions:
Shop floor and inspection lab environment.
Occasional lifting of materials up to 50 lbs.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
