Quality Inspector (CMM Operator Focus) - Contract

Shift: M-F 2pm-10:30pm
Location: Tempe, AZ

Position Summary:
The Quality Inspector (CMM Operator) is responsible for ensuring that all products and materials meet established quality standards and specifications. This role focuses on performing precise dimensional inspections using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and other metrology equipment, while supporting overall quality assurance processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and perform inspections using CMM equipment to verify part dimensions and tolerances
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings to determine inspection requirements
  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on manufactured parts
  • Approve or reject raw materials and finished products based on quality standards
  • Document inspection results accurately and maintain detailed quality records
  • Identify non-conformances and communicate findings to production and quality teams
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues
  • Ensure all inspection tools and equipment are properly calibrated and maintained
  • Monitor supplier quality and assist in tracking supplier performance

Qualifications:

  • Experience operating CMM equipment (manual or programmed)
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Proficiency with standard inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting

Preferred:

  • Experience with CMM software (such as PC-DMIS or similar)
  • Background in manufacturing or precision machining environments
  • Familiarity with ISO or AS quality standards
