About the roleWe manufacture precision aerospace hardware under AS9100 and NADCAP welding accreditation. This Level 2 inspector works independently on incoming, in-process, and final inspection across all products and processes in our shop—machined parts, fabrications, assemblies, and weldments. Strong welding inspection skill is required, including AWS D17.1 Class A and NADCAP documentation readiness.
Responsibilities• Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on all parts produced or processed in our operations (machined, fabricated, assembled, and welded)
• Read and apply blueprints, weld symbols, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
• Inspect AWS D17.1 Class A welds: pre-weld (fit-up, cleanliness, joint prep), in-process (procedure compliance, preheat/interpass), and post-weld (profile, undercut, porosity, cracks, and other Class A discontinuities)
• Verify welded work against qualified WPS/PQR and current welder qualifications
• Complete First Article Inspections (FAI) and AS9102 packages
• Identify and document nonconformances; support NCR/MRB and re-inspection
• Maintain complete, traceable inspection records (travelers, WPS, welder ID, consumable heat/lot, results, and stamp)
• Support NADCAP welding audits (AC7110 / AC7110/5) by preparing packages and walking auditors through evidence
• Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, comparators, etc.)
• Work with production to catch issues early on the floor
Required qualifications• High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years quality inspection in aerospace or defense manufacturing
• Experience inspecting both precision machined/fabricated parts and fusion welds to AWS D17.1 Class A
• Hands-on experience in a NADCAP-accredited welding environment supporting audits and inspection documentation
