Job Title: Quality Inspector III ($40/hour Torrance)
Job Description
The Quality Inspector III performs receiving, in-process, and final inspections to ensure products meet rigorous aerospace and mechanical quality standards. This role develops andexecutes inspection plans, conducts AS9102 First Article Inspections, supports AS9100 audits, and maintains calibration programs for measurement and test equipment. The position plays a key role in driving root cause analysis, supporting MRB activities, and providing feedback on design for manufacturability in a growing startup environment.
Responsibilities
Create, implement, and maintain inspection plans for receiving, in-process, and final inspection activities.
Perform detailed receiving inspections to verify incoming materials and components meet specifications and quality requirements.
Conduct AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIs) and document results in accordance with aerospace industry standards.
Support in-process inspections on the production floor to ensure parts and assemblies comply with engineering drawings and quality criteria.
Perform final inspections to confirm product conformance before release, including visual inspections and dimensional checks.
Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other hand tools to perform precise mechanical measurements and quality checks.
Interpret and inspect parts using engineering blueprints, drawings, and GD&T requirements per ASME Y14.5.
Conduct and support audits to maintain compliance with AS9100 quality management system requirements.
Maintain and support the calibration program by ensuring measurement and test equipment (M&TE) is properly calibrated and documented.
Support MRB (Material Review Board) activities by providing inspection data and input on nonconforming material.
Participate in and support RCCA (Root Cause & Corrective Action) activities to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
Provide feedback on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) to improve product quality and ease of production.
Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.
Perform quality inspections on mechanical and potentially medical device or aerospace-related components, ensuring adherence to applicable standards.
Document inspection results clearly and accurately, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
Follow established quality control procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of inspection processes.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in quality inspection and quality control within a manufacturing or production environment.
Hands-on experience performing receiving, in-process, and final inspections.
Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision mechanical measurement tools.
Strong ability to perform visual inspections and quality checks on mechanical parts and assemblies.
Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and drawings.
Working knowledge of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
Experience conducting AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIs).
Familiarity with AS9100 quality management system requirements and audit support.
Understanding of calibration requirements for measurement and test equipment (M&TE).
Experience with RCCA (Root Cause & Corrective Action) methodologies.
Ability to support MRB (Material Review Board) activities with accurate inspection data.
Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools used in inspection and assembly.
Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inspection records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in aerospace or medical device manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of quality assurance practices and standards in highly regulated industries.
Exposure to or interest in IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 standards, with willingness to complete training.
Ability to provide feedback on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) to engineering teams.
Comfort working with both mechanical and assembly-related inspections.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Continuous improvement mindset with an interest in refining inspection processes and tools.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
