    Quality Inspector

    Role Overview

    The Quality Inspector sets up and operates computerized and advanced nondestructive testing (NDT) equipment to inspect components and materials, determining the most effective inspection methods for each application while ensuring compliance with customer, industry, and company quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Examine materials and products for defects including cracks, porosity, incomplete welds, leaks, and internal flaws.
    • Perform and demonstrate competency in eddy current, ultrasonic, radiographic, visual, and thermographic inspection methods.
    • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to verify dimensions and requirements.
    • Evaluate inspection results, make technical judgments, and provide recommendations regarding component condition and serviceability.
    • Document inspection findings and communicate results to Engineering, supporting technical evaluations and life assessments.
    • Provide technical and financial input regarding process improvements and quality-related recommendations.
    • Train and mentor new inspectors in accordance with ASNT standards.
    • Support ISO 9001 audits, compliance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure products meet or exceed internal quality standards and customer requirements.
    • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
    • Contribute to team goals, maintain effective communication, and protect confidential information.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school, or a minimum of 3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, correspondence, drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills with customers, coworkers, and management.
    • Working knowledge of basic mathematical concepts including fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and graph interpretation.
    • Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills with the ability to work from written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.
    • Basic computer proficiency, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and related software applications.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear for extended periods and routinely lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to work in industrial environments that may include exposure to chemicals, elevated noise levels, and required personal protective equipment.
