About the Role
Seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to support aerospace manufacturing operations in Santa Ana. This role is responsible for dimensional and mechanical inspection activities, First Article Inspections (FAIs), and verification of aerospace components and assemblies to ensure compliance with customer, engineering, and internal quality requirements.
The ideal candidate will have aerospace inspection experience, strong blueprint reading skills, working knowledge of AS9102 requirements, and experience inspecting precision machined components and assemblies.
Essential Duties
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) per AS9102 requirements
- Conduct receiving, in-process, and final inspections
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications
- Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges
- Review material certifications and manufacturing documentation
- Document nonconforming materials and quality issues
- Inspect aerospace components and assemblies for compliance
Qualifications - Minimum 2 years of aerospace or aviation inspection experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Knowledge of AS9102 and FAI documentation
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
- Experience using precision measuring tools
- Understanding of machining, welding, heat treat, and NDT processes
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and visual acuity exam
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with MRP systems and aerospace quality systems
- Familiarity with CMM inspection reports and data
- Experience using laser trackers or Romer arms
- Aerospace inspection certifications such as DQR Flight Safety, DSQR, ASQ, or FAA certifications
- Familiarity with customer portals for FAI submissions and customer/government source inspections
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing methodologies including 5S, 5 Whys, and A3
