We are currently is seeking a Quality Inspector to support inspection activities in a precision manufacturing environment for a client located in Spartanburg, SC. This position is responsible for performing in-process and final inspection of machined components, ensuring compliance to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. Responsibilities- Perform in-process, first-piece, final, and outgoing inspection of machined parts
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and height gauges
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain required records
- Identify and segregate nonconforming material
- Verify part traceability and inspection documentation
- Communicate quality issues to production and quality leadership
- Support general quality and continuous improvement activities
Requirements- Associate degree, technical diploma, or vocational training in manufacturing, machining, metrology, or quality preferred.
- Training in blueprint reading, GD&T, metrology, or quality systems preferred
- 2+ years of inspection experience in manufacturing or machining
- Ability to read blueprints and inspect to dimensional requirements
- Experience using precision measuring tools
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- 3 to 5+ years of inspection experience in precision machining is preferred.
- Technical training in quality, manufacturing, machining, or metrology
- Experience with tight-tolerance components
- Exposure to CMM reports, ISO 9001, or structured quality systems
- Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined parts.
- Experience with rotor, shaft, cylindrical, or complex precision ground components preferred.
- Experience working with first article inspection, in-process verification, and final inspection documentation.
- Experience supporting audits, corrective actions, or containment activities.
- Working knowledge of dimensional inspection techniques and measurement methods.
- Proficient in the use of common inspection tools, including: calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, gauge blocks or comparative measuring tools as needed.
- Ability to follow written procedures, inspection plans, and routing/traveler requirements.
- Ability to identify obvious defects, dimensional issues, documentation gaps, and traceability concerns.
- Ability to work constructively with operators, supervisors, and quality personnel.
Physical / Work Environment Requirements- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift inspection tools, fixtures, or components within reasonable job limits.
- Ability to work around machines, coolant, grinding operations, and industrial equipment safely.
- Ability to use PPE and comply with plant safety requirements.
- May require occasional overtime or schedule flexibility based on production needs.
