General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) is a supplier of advanced electromagnetic systems, related power equipment and other high technology products for a variety of government and commercial applications. These include products such as the design and fabrication of linear motors, superconducting and conventional rotating motors, power inverters, high-energy capacitors, radiation monitoring systems, high-voltage direct current power distribution systems, and numerous other products.
Under minimal supervision this position is responsible for inspecting a wide variety of Optical, Electrical and mechanical components and assemblies, tooling fixtures and material to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company specifications and quality requirements. Sets up, operates, inspects, tests, and adjusts new and reworked tools, dies, gauges, jigs and fixtures for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications. Maintains, processes, and compiles a variety of confidential and sensitive electronic and hard copy reports, records and statistics. Assignments are typically non-routine where judgment and assessment are required to resolve highly complex issues. May conduct inspections at customer or vendor sites.

Typically requires an associate''s degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections or certification by a professional group such as ASQ or AWS, and five or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical or metrology inspection and calibration. May substitute additional experience in lieu of formal education and training.
Must possess:
ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings and specifications, and perform non-routine mathematical computations
strong computer and communication skills to effectively interface with employees, managers and vendors
experience with Optical, Electro-optical, and Mechanical inspection
an intermediate to Subject Matter Expert level of knowledge on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
ability to work independently or lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required
experience reviewing, approving, witnessing, and accepting/rejecting complex electronic test procedures and results for system requirement verification
Either currently posses, or have the ability to achieve certifications in one or more of the following; IPC-610-A, or IPC-620A, J-STD/Space addendum or equivalent.
Knowledge and or experience operating in a clean room environment.
SAP/PEO or other ERP systems/software experience is highly desired
Experience with black light/white light inspection requirements on optical payloads for FOD and mapping optical filters to scratch/dig per MIL-STD-13830.
Knowledge of inspections requirements on critical projects that include mapping defects in High Value Coating, Large Area Optics.
Experience programming/operating Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) utilizing PC-DMIS software.
Ability to perform scratch Dig Optical inspections per MIL-PRF-13830, ISO 10110-7, and/or ANSI/OEOSC OP1.002.
Documented experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality assurance program requirements and optics materials.
Currently possess or the ability to obtain and maintain DoD "Secret" level security clearance.
