Temp-to-hire, Full-Time Quality Lab Technician – Chicago, IL
Our client, a leading provider of electroless nickel plating solutions with over 120 years of industry experience, is seeking a Quality Lab Technician to join its Quality Assurance Department. Reporting to the Lab Quality Manager, this role is key to ensuring the chemistry and quality of materials, components, and finished products meet company standards. This job is from 6am to 2:30pm with a half hour unpaid lunch and is located on the near west side of Chicago.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain plating bath chemistry, temperature, and pH through regular analysis.
- Make chemical adjustments to plating tanks based on analytical testing.
- Maintain anodes, filters, and other physical components of the plating bath.
- Inspect parts to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
- Enter and maintain lab data within Lab Management Software (LMS).
- Manage lab inventory, raw material checks, drum movement, & chemical storage organization.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to troubleshoot and recommend process improvements.
- Complete training-related and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Min. 2–3 years of wet chemistry lab experience; metal plating experience preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Comfortable using MS Office Suite and lab data management software.
- Willingness to learn specialized testing methods, including X-ray machines and adhesion/thickness tests.
- Strong teamwork, communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Must be able to walk, kneel, stand for long periods, and lift up to 45 pounds.
