JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Lab Technician will provide support for the Quality Control technicians by performing the day-to-day in-house laboratory testing. Additionally, the Quality Lab Technician will support the Senior Quality & Data Analyst with trial sample collection and testing as well as the implementation of Edesia’s quality and regulatory requirements.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

The Quality Lab Technician will: 
  • Sample and inspect finished product for safety, quality, and organoleptic properties to ensure compliance with customer specifications 
  • Conduct bench analysis for nutritional and physical parameters 
  • Prepare necessary laboratory titrations for raw material and finished product testing, including collecting and testing samples for trials and blending validations
  • Trend and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data such as finished product test results, sachets weights, and dosing data
  • Perform ATP and EB swabbing of surfaces and equipment 
  • Perform weekly Environmental Monitoring swabbing and air plate testing on the production floor
  • Perform quarterly water testing and compressed air testing throughout the facility
  • Prepare and perform stability study testing of finished products 
  • Identify and isolate finished products that do not meet standards 
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies, and order as needed 
  • Troubleshoot lab equipment issues with suppliers
  • Communicate with third-party laboratories for external testing
  • Collect and manage all finished product samples for micro testing, retains, sample library, and other analytical testing or customer requirements 
  • Peer review to confirm that all the documentation is recorded correctly (including sanitation paperwork and operation quality check paperwork) 
  • Ensure that Edesia is adhering to all relevant international, state, and local food manufacturing regulations and help to maintain BRC certification 
  • Monitor sanitation, safety regulations and procedures, GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, and BRC Standards. 
  • Ensure and educate employees about food safety, BRC, and quality standards
  • Other QA tasks and production-support tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related field required
  • Experience with food safety regulations such as HACCP/HARPC, BRC, GMPs, and SSOP programs preferred 
  • Must have good communication, strong computer skills, audit experience, organizational skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with all departments 
  • Must have good, safe laboratory practices 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • General laboratory/light industrial food manufacturing 
  • Seasonal fluctuation in warehouse temperature 
  • Hours:  10:30 AM – 7:00 PM (Additional hours may be required based on production needs)
