Position Summary

My client is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead our quality management system within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment specializing in precision landing gear components. This individual will be responsible for maintaining compliance with AS9100D, ISO 9001, FAA Repair Station requirements, and customer-specific aerospace standards while leading a team dedicated to delivering zero-defect products.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader capable of balancing customer requirements, regulatory compliance, production support, and continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with:
• • AS9100D
  • ISO 9001
  • FAA Repair Station requirements
  • Customer-specific aerospace requirements
• Lead and develop Quality Inspectors and CMM programmers.
• Review engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, customer requirements, and manufacturing processes.
• Review and approve:
• • Certificates of Conformance
  • Material Certifications
  • Inspection Reports
  • Final acceptance documentation
• Ensure compliance with:
• • Calibration requirements
  • Inspection equipment control
  • Gage management
  • Measurement system integrity
• Interface directly with customers regarding:
• • Nonconformances
  • Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA)
  • 8D Reports
  • Customer audits
  • Supplier quality concerns
• Lead investigations involving:
• • Internal nonconformances
  • Customer complaints
  • Process escapes
  • Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
• Conduct internal audits and prepare the organization for:
• • AS9100 audits
  • FAA audits
  • Customer audits
• Work closely with Production, Purchasing, and Management to resolve manufacturing issues while maintaining product conformity.
• Review manufacturing documentation for completeness and compliance.
• Monitor quality metrics including:
• • Scrap
  • Rework
  • Customer returns
  • Non-Conformance trends
  • On-time Delivery performance
• Develop procedures, work instructions, inspection methods, and quality documentation.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing variation and improving process capability.
• Support supplier qualification and supplier quality evaluations.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of Quality experience within aerospace manufacturing.
• Minimum 3 years in a Quality leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of:
• • AS9100D
  • ISO 9001
  • First Article Inspection
  • FAA Repair Station regulations (preferred)
  • GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
• Strong understanding of:
• • CNC machining processes
  • Precision measurement
  • Surface finish evaluation
  • Material certifications
  • Heat treat specifications
  • Special process controls
• Experience using:
• • CMM equipment
  • Optical comparators
  • Height gages
  • Bore gages
  • Micrometers
  • Surface roughness testers
• Ability to interpret complex aerospace drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
• Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
• Lead Auditor Certification
• Experience with FAA Repair Stations
• Experience with ITAR-controlled manufacturing
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems
