Quality Manager

Location: New Ulm, MN, US

Are you a quality-driven leader passionate about food safety, compliance, and operational excellence? We are seeking a dynamic Quality Leader to champion our site"s Quality and Food Safety programs and make a lasting impact on customer satisfaction and business performance.

In this highly visible leadership role, you will lead the site Quality team and oversee the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of Quality and Food Safety Management Systems, policies, and procedures. You will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations while driving a culture of quality throughout the organization.

Partnering closely with site leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, you will execute regional and global quality strategies, elevate quality performance, and promote best practices across operations. This is a unique opportunity to influence key business outcomes by balancing customer satisfaction, product integrity, regulatory compliance, and cost of quality while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Your key responsibilities

  • Quality Planning & Culture: Develop and implement the Quality Plan. Promote a strong Quality Culture across the organization. Drive excellence in customer satisfaction.
  • Quality Systems & Compliance: Ensure systems like QMS, FSSC22000, RSPO, and GMP are in place and maintained. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Train and mentor quality team members. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning. Be a leader on site - work closely with your cross-functional peers to achieve goals for the site, region, and our global business unit team.
  • Auditing & Continuous Improvement: Conduct internal and external audits to assess compliance and identify improvements. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Supplier & Customer Quality: Collaborate with suppliers to meet quality standards and resolve issues. Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions to ensure satisfaction.
  • Product Specifications & Quality Control: Define and maintain product specifications to ensure food safety and quality. Ensure all products are safe, compliant, and meet or exceed quality standards. Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management. Highlight key metrics and areas for improvement.
  • Budget & Project Support: Manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets for Quality Control and Assurance. Support and approve quality aspects during project planning and execution.

You bring

  • Minimum Bachelor of science in food science, food engineering, and / or Chemistry, quality management.
  • 5+ years of experience in applicable industry e.g., Food, Ingredient, Chemical Pharma
  • 5+ years experience people leadership, leading diverse and cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in local language to the plant of responsibility and fluency in English required
  • Experience with leading ISO standards (FSSC,9001) and other standards such as Organic, RSPO, Halal and Kosher

The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant's job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Salary range: $130,000-$150,000.
