The Quality & Operations Support Specialist will support the day to day quality and operational activities.
Working closely with the Operations Manager & Production Supervisor, the role will help ensure that precision graphite components are manufactured, inspected, documented and delivered in accordance with customer requirements and quality standards.
The position combines hands-on quality inspection and documentation with production and operational support, making it well suited to someone who is comfortable working within a fast paced precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection & Assurance: Carry out dimensional and visual inspection of graphite electrodes and other manufactured components against customer drawings, specifications and internal quality requirements.
Quality Documentation: Complete and maintain inspection records, certificates, traceability documentation and other quality records required for customer orders.
Non-Conformance Management: Identify and document non-conforming product, support root-cause investigations and assist with corrective and preventive actions to reduce repeat quality issues.
Production Support: Work closely with the Production Supervisor and machinists to identify and resolve quality or operational issues that could impact production output, delivery or customer requirements.
Customer Requirements: Support compliance with the specific quality and documentation requirements of Erodex's aerospace, industrial gas turbine and other precision manufacturing customers.
QMS Support: Assist with the maintenance and continuous improvement of Erodex's Quality Management System, including procedures, work instructions, records and controlled documentation.
Audit Support: Support internal, customer and external quality audits, ensuring relevant documentation and records remain accurate and audit-ready.
Continuous Improvement: Review quality and production performance to identify opportunities to improve right-first-time performance, reduce scrap/rework and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.
Drawing & Revision Control: Ensure current customer drawings and specifications are available to production and inspection teams and that drawing revisions are correctly controlled and implemented.
Operational Support: Provide additional support across production planning, inventory, logistics and order fulfilment where required to help maintain customer delivery performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Erodex teams in both the USA and UK, including Production, Engineering, Operations, Quality and Customer Service, to resolve issues and support customer requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience within a quality, inspection, manufacturing or operations environment preferred.
Experience within a CNC machining environment preferred.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
Experience using dimensional inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges and other measurement equipment would be advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate quality and production records.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office applications.
Experience working within an ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management System would be advantageous.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across production, engineering and management teams.
