Job Purpose or Objective(s):

The Quality Risk and Patient Safety Officer develops, implements, and oversees a comprehensive healthcare Risk Management Program to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risk across CNO Health Services. You will ensure compliance with federal, Tribal, and accreditation standards while promoting patient safety, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.

Primary Tasks:

  • Oversee the risk management program by implementing policies, enforcing compliance, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational risk exposure.
  • Direct administration of RL Datix (incident reporting system); ensure timely intake, classification, escalation, and resolution of 100% reported events.
  • Conduct and oversee investigations of adverse events, sentinel events, and near misses; perform root cause analyses (RCA) and implement corrective actions to reduce recurrence.
  • Lead RCA, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and formal investigations; ensure timely completion, thorough documentation, and validation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze risk and patient safety data to identify trends, quantify risk exposure, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership and governing bodies.
  • Develop and deliver education programs to improve incident reporting compliance, strengthen risk awareness, and promote just culture practices.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel on claims and potential claims, providing documentation and supporting risk mitigation strategies.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field

  • Working knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements and incident reporting

  • Ability to conduct and document investigations, analyze data, and identify trends

  • Experience in root cause analysis, system-level analysis, risk trending, and corrective action planning

  • Three [3] years of experience in risk management, patient safety, or healthcare compliance

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field

  • Working knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements and incident reporting
