Quality Supervisor
Finished goods leave this plant only when they meet the drawing, the contract, and the customer’s expectation. As Quality Supervisor, you are second in command of Quality—keeping systems current, inspectors sharp, and production moving without trading away conformance. Your work protects on-time delivery, new-product launches, and the reputation of every textile and sewn product that ships.
Performance Objectives
- Lead the inspection team so in-process, first-article, and final checks follow the correct method and catch nonconforming product before it ships.
- Own the SOP system: create, revise, and retire procedures so the floor works to current, usable standards.
- Close customer complaints and out-of-spec events with documented root cause, corrective action, and a complete historical record.
- Direct outside lab work—samples, test scope, report review—and state clearly whether material meets acceptance criteria.
- Support new-product launch and ongoing production so quality holds the schedule instead of stopping it.
- Use flow charts, check sheets, cause-and-effect diagrams, graphs, and control charts to turn valid data into recommendations production can act on.
- Develop inspector performance and give manufacturing clear feedback from audits, measurements, and customer comments.
Environment & Resources
You report to the Quality Assurance Manager and supervise Quality Inspectors on the plant floor and in the office. You work daily with Production, Engineering, and Purchasing, and coordinate outside analytical labs. Core tools include standard quality methods, Microsoft Office, and the plant ERP. The role is full-time and on-site: Monday–Thursday, 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and Friday, 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. Pay is $60,000–$70,000 annually, depending on experience.
Essential Qualifications
- Five or more years of progressive quality responsibility in manufacturing, including supervision or performance management of inspectors.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100, and the ability to read blueprints (a test is given at interview).
- Proven use of root-cause methods and basic quality tools to define problems, collect facts, and recommend corrective action.
- Experience administering procedures and coordinating customer returns, complaints, and corrective-action records.
- Clear written and verbal communication with production, customers, and outside laboratories, with strict attention to detail and deadlines.
Role Selling Points
- True second-in-command scope across quality systems, finished-goods inspection, new-product launch, and on-time delivery and safety.
- A four-day core schedule in a hands-on contract shop serving defense and commercial customers.
- Direct influence on how product is built, inspected, and accepted—not a paperwork-only desk.
- Competitive pay and benefits; relocation may be considered for highly qualified candidates.
