Job Description

Quality Systems & Compliance Technologist

Where: Florence, KY

Compensation: $20.55 - 25.00/hour

Shift: 7am – 7pm (Day)

Is this you?

  • Do you thrive in a lab and on the floor—measuring tensile strength one moment and auditing finished bales the next?
  • Can you spot a process gap, log it, and get the right people aligned to fix it—fast?
  • Are OSHA, EPA, SQF, GMP, and 5S more than buzzwords to you?

Your impact

You will safeguard quality for food, beverage, and specialty packaging products by verifying that every item shipped meets customer specifications and that our facility adheres to rigorous safety and compliance standards.

Core responsibilities

  • Lead with safety: adhere to all corporate and plant safety rules, escalate noncompliance, and model proper PPE (steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hair/beard nets).
  • Maintain 5S organization and comply with all food safety policies and procedures.
  • Report and document quality issues to machine operators, supervisors, and plant leadership.
  • Collect and catalog samples from specified machines.
  • Execute random audits on skids and bales of finished goods.
  • Run QA Lab tests: paper tensile and handle strength, ink rub resistance (Sutherland), barcode scanning, and basis weight/gram scale verification.
  • Operate (or be trained on) tensile testers, Sutherland rub testers, barcode scanners, and gram scales.
  • Ensure full OSHA/EPA compliance; assist with internal audits/inspections and record findings in the appropriate safety systems.
  • Participate in weekly OSHA-aligned safety meetings; support plant safety committee goals and objectives.
  • Assist with safety training for shipping/receiving and production teams.
  • Issue daily end-of-shift summaries detailing safety and quality status, corrective actions completed, and items for further escalation.
  • Oversee the GEMBA program: verify audit completion, resolve recurring/severe issues promptly, and keep systems updated.
  • Communicate frequently with floor teams, supervisors, and Corporate Safety & Quality via email, calls, and meetings.
  • Organize and lead food safety certification initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate EHS Manager on plant safety and environmental activities.
  • Perform and document Mobile Inspections.
  • Use Microsoft Excel to prepare reports and document test/audit results.
  • Support investigations of customer complaints and help drive resolution.
  • Conduct required training and new-employee orientation as needed.
  • Comply with Food Contact Packaging Safety standards as outlined in the SQF Quality Manual and GMPs.
  • Continuously monitor quality systems and enforce corporate/plant procedures.
  • Complete and record required audits: Monthly Sanitation and Security, GMP, Master Cleaning Schedules, and Glass & Brittle Plastics.
  • Investigate customer complaints, including carrier claims, formal corrective action responses, and root cause analysis.

What you need to succeed

  • At least 2 years of experience in production, quality, or safety within manufacturing or warehousing.
  • Solid reading, writing, and basic math; familiarity with quality standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills; able to confidently lead meetings.
  • Self-managed with excellent organization, time management, and analytical capability.
  • Background in Quality Inspection, FSQA, Quality Control, and GMP is preferred.

Why this role?

Every day, you’ll blend hands-on testing with systems thinking. If you enjoy turning observations into corrective actions—and seeing measurable results—this role lets you own the process from lab bench to finished pallet.
