Basic Job Functions: Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US, Inc. manufactures and distributes engineered fasteners under the SPAX® brand for the construction market, TRUFAST® for the commercial roofing industry and TRUFASTWalls® for exterior building envelopes and facades. The Quality Systems Engineer will focus on internal inspection product certification and quality standards and documentation, while also supporting the quality department through training and consulting, communication, supply management, calibration, and other similar duties. Essential Responsibilities: Internal Inspection Product Certification - Manage customer, supplier, and product lists: Leverage internal systems, including QT9 and Gemba Docs.
- Create inspection plans and organization for Q/Sample/Launch part families: Ensure collection plans meet all industry, engineering, and customer standards and specifications.
- Maintain Layered Focus Review Program: Set schedule, verify progress, assign tasks, and follow up on any/all OFI’s and corrective actions.
- Assist QC Techs as needed: Help prioritize product testing, resource for calibration and SPC issues, etc.
Quality Standards & Documentation - Create, revise and maintain ISO forms, records and work instructions: Implement and update QT9 system and Gembadocs, including training for external customers, internal associates, and creation of essential function with respect to quality within the system.
- Coordinate required records completion. i.e.: NCR, CAR, VNP, customer complaints, etc.: Update, follow-up and /or close open quality records.
- Create, set-up, and maintain SPC software for ABC & Purchased products: Accurately create, set-up, maintain software, and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Prepare and conduct internal Quality Audits: Lead and conduct all internal audits as required.
- Create and maintain documentation for and from suppliers/customers: Notify suppliers regarding updates to engineering drawings. Ensure that certifications from suppliers are stored and reattained as required for product safety, and compliance to industry standards.
- Participate in ISO and other 3rd part registrar audits: Work together with the Quality Manager and outside auditor during audits, and participate in corresponding actions from the audit as required for certification.
- Training within the QT9 system: Provide support as new modules are implemented within the system.
Quality Support - Increase job knowledge of quality concepts through continual education: Attend appropriate training opportunities, pursue additional college credits.
- Coordinate with department supervisors: Support new employee orientation, initial quality training, re-training of associates when processes are updated or added.
- Company owned supplies as required: Maintain records.
- Use Gagepack software: Assist with calibration of all measuring instruments while working with QC techs as needed.
General Quality - Order inspections gages, supplies, etc.: As required.
- Management Review: Obtain documents as required for review, conduct management review meetings, communicate results, and present progress during ISO compliance audits.
- Place parts/products into QC warehouse as necessary: Input data into SAP both accurately and timely.
- Assist Quality Manager and Manufacturing Quality Engineer as requested: Examples of tasks: New product introduction, quality projects, sampling plans, employee training, etc.
