Employment Type: Full-Time Work Environment: On-Site Reports To:Quality Manager / Quality Lead Location: Apple Valley, CA Quality Technician Job Summary The Quality Technician is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining digital inspection equipment on the manufacturing shop floor to verify that components meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and established quality standards. This position provides real-time inspection support to production personnel and helps identify dimensional or quality issues before nonconforming product progresses through the manufacturing process. Essential Job Functions - Set up and operate digital inspection equipment such as vision inspection systems, digital comparators, CMMs, optical measurement systems, laser measurement equipment, and electronic gauges.
- Develop, modify, and maintain inspection programs and measurement routines for manufactured components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensional tolerances, specifications, and inspection requirements.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final dimensional inspections.
- Support machine operators with shop-floor inspection and verification of critical dimensions.
- Establish standardized inspection methods for repeat production parts.
- Verify inspection equipment is properly calibrated and functioning before use.
- Train production employees on the proper use of approved digital inspection equipment and measurement techniques.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate electronic quality records.
- Identify and communicate dimensional trends, process variation, and potential nonconforming conditions.
- Work with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality personnel to resolve dimensional or inspection issues.
- Assist with first article inspections (FAI) and preparation of inspection reports when required.
- Support nonconforming material investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Maintain inspection programs, fixtures, reference standards, and measurement equipment in an organized condition.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities designed to improve inspection efficiency, manufacturing capability, and product quality.

Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or GED required.
- 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing quality inspection or a similar technical role preferred.
Preferred Qualifications - Associate degree or technical certification in quality, manufacturing technology, metrology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing qualify, inspection, or metrology environment
- Hands-on programming experience with digital vision systems, optical comparators, CMM’s, automated dimensional inspection equipment
- Experience performing first articles, in-process, and final inspections
- Skilled in using standard precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, bore gauges, and pin gauges.
- Familiar with CNC machining, molding, fabrication, or other precision manufacturing processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Organized, dependable, and capable of managing priorities under deadlines.
- Experience operating digital dimensional inspection equipment.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T.
- Working knowledge of traditional measurement equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, pin gauges, and indicators.
- Ability to troubleshoot inspection setups and measurement discrepancies.
- Basic computer skills and experience working with electronic inspection records or quality systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work directly with production personnel in a fast-paced shop-floor environment.
Physical Requirements - Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during inspections and testing.
- Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent use of hands and arms to operate precision measurement instruments and inspection equipment.
- Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and lab coats as required.
