Quality Technician Role
The Quality Technician performs essential quality inspections on in-process and finished steel products to ensure strict adherence to customer specifications and safety standards. This role exists to maintain structural integrity, verify weld compliance, and support production teams with technical quality expertise. The Quality Control Technician reports directly to the Quality Manager. This position does not have any direct reports.
Quality Technician Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive quality inspections on steel poles
Conduct dimensional audits at initial setup
Perform Visual Inspection (VT) on all welds in accordance with industry standards
Execute Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to identify defects
Maintain accurate inspection records, resource sheets, and testing reports
Report and document non-conforming or out-of-specification products
Educate production staff on established quality standards and procedures
Adhere to all organization safety policies, daily equipment inspections, and PPE requirements
About You
Possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and a valid driver's license
Hold 1–3 years of hands-on Quality Control experience, specifically with AWS D1.1 standards
Maintain Level I or II certifications in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Demonstrate proficiency using measuring tools, including weld gages, tape measures, and girth tapes
Exhibit the ability to effectively use quality tools such as MT yokes, UT scopes, and QC stamps
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with production teams
Offer experience working with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards for traffic or utility structures
Show a preference for CWI Certification and familiarity with Epicor ERP systems.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to occasionally pull, push, carry, or lift tools and materials weighing up to 50 lbs
Ability to withstand occasional bending, squatting, crouching, and frequent manual handling of tools
Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, and humidity
Required to wear appropriate PPE including steel-toe shoes, gloves, ear protection, a hard hat, and safety glasses
