    Description

    Established in 1919 and traded on the NYSE, Standard Motor Products, Inc. (SMP) is a leading independent manufacturer and distributor of premium automotive replacement parts utilized in the maintenance, repair, and service of vehicles in the automotive aftermarket. Additionally, SMP provides customized solutions for vehicle control and thermal management products in diversified end markets represented by its Engineered Solutions segment.

    Globally, SMP employs over 6,000 employees across nearly 40 manufacturing, distribution, and engineering facilities and offices located in North America, Europe and Asia. SMP sells its products primarily to automotive aftermarket retailers, program distribution groups, warehouse distributors, original equipment manufacturers, and original equipment service part operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Mexico, and other Latin American countries.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Responsible for performing in-process and receiving inspections based upon engineering drawings; shop routing and specifications or information. Collect and enter data for capability studies and Gage R&R studies. Assist manufacturing operations in basic inspection methods; manufacturing procedures; quality procedures and work instructions. Ensure conformance to Quality Standard QMS, ISO 9001, 6S, SQDCI, and all QUA process controls.

    Duties: (included, but not limited to)

    • Receiving activities in ERP system
    • Move transactions in ERP system
    • Enter information into Quality Database
    • Receiving inspection activities [Inspection Database]
    • Complete ISIR, FAIR or 1st piece inspection process
    • Update inspection control plans in Quality Database
    • Issue NCMR's:
    • QP 8301 Nonconforming Material Process.doc [NCMR Database]
    • QUA containment area(s) being organized and accurate (INSP, QANET, QARI, RTV, QCNCM, etc.)
    • Calibration procedure:
    • QP 7601 Control of monitoring and measuring devices.doc [GagePACK]
    • Perform Internal calibration activities:
    • Golden Eggs, Custom Gages, Testers, etc.
    • Receive, Analyze, & Disposition RMA's - Engineering and QUA Tech A. supervised as needed
    • QP 7206 Returned Material Authorization (RMA) process.doc - [RMA Database]
    • Generate ECN Requests: [ECN Database]
    • QP 7302 Engineering Change Notification (Change Control).doc
    • Update and Control Documents: [Document Control Database]
    • QP 4202 Document Control.doc
    • DCR Coordinator
    • Issue CAR's: [Corrective Action Database]
    • QP 8502 Corrective Action-Preventative Action Process.doc
    • General Communicate with Suppliers on NCMR's, CAR's, etc.
    • General Communicate with Customers on RMA's, CAR's, etc.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
    • Other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
    • Some heavy lifting required up to 70 lbs.

    Qualifications:

    • Ability to read and understand documents such as blueprints.

    • Have a basic knowledge of and the ability to recognize GD&T callouts on prints.

    • Ability to read and write English.

    • Ability to use the following gages:

    • Optical Comparator, Spring Force Tester, Gage Balls, Concentricity Gages, Thread Micrometer, Bore Gages, Caliper, Micrometer, Thread Gages, Indicators, Gage Pins, Height-stand/Drop Indicator, etc.

    • Proficient use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS outlook, MS Access, and MS Excel.

    • Ability to collect data for capability studies and Gage R&R Studies.

    • Requires a minimum of 2 years' experience in a Quality environment

    Not required, but strongly recommended:

    • Can enter and generate capability and gage R&R charts in MiniTab.
    • Run CMM program created by CMM Operator

    Job descriptions may include Qualifications and Responsibilities that require SMP | Trombetta specific training. It is the responsibility of the Quality Manager to provide adequate training to the employee taking on requested job responsibilities listed for this Quality position

    Physical Demands:

    The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to gather necessary, or store materials throughout the workday. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Extended use of computer use and keyboarding and normal range of hearing.
