Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Quality/Test Engineer 4. The work will be done onsite full-time in Pontiac, IL. This is a long-term position (12 months) that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $47/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking a Quality/Test Engineer to support internal manufacturing quality initiatives focused on machining processes within a production environment. This role involves investigating quality issues, analyzing data, and implementing corrective actions to improve product reliability and process performance. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, operations, and quality to drive continuous improvement. This position offers hands-on exposure to real-world manufacturing challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support investigations into quality issues including scrap, rework, and customer complaints
Perform root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, fishbone diagrams, and FMEA
Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions to improve process quality
Monitor manufacturing processes and analyze data to improve capability and reduce variation
Analyze quality metrics such as defect rates, SPC charts, and process capability
Prepare reports and communicate findings to cross-functional teams and leadership
Track KPIs such as First Pass Yield and internal/external PPM
Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and operations teams to improve processes
Train operators on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field (Masters degree with relevant experience considered)
5+ years of relevant engineering or quality experience (internships considered toward experience)
Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
Experience with data-driven decision making and quality reporting
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and production teams
Strong communication and collaboration skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with manufacturing quality in machining or production environments
Knowledge of quality standards, FMEA, and risk management processes
Experience with process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives
Familiarity with SPC, defect analysis, and quality metrics tracking
Leadership or influence within cross-functional teams
