We are seeking a Quantitative Developer to help develop, enhance, validate, and support quantitative models delivered through our web-based SaaS analytics platform. This role combines quantitative problem-solving, programming, and analytical thinking to solve complex real-world challenges within the global energy and commodities markets.
The ideal candidate will bring strong mathematical and coding foundations, curiosity for solving complex technical problems, and the ability to translate quantitative concepts into practical business applications. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career quantitative talent looking to apply advanced analytical techniques in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop new quantitative models or enhancements to existing models relative to detailed technical specifications.
Gather detailed technical and functional model requirements.
Validate new or existing models.
Provide technical quantitative subject matter expertise.
Interface with clients on model use, configuration, and calibration.
Assist Zema Global staff with use or maintenance of quantitative models.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Must have
Candidates with a B.S. degree and exceptional quantitative and coding capability demonstrated through internships, research, projects, or strong academic achievement will also be considered.
M.S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Operations Research, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
0-5 years of relevant experience, depending on educational background. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and some hands-on industry experience are highly preferred.
Strong hands-on programming capability in Python or R, with experience building, testing, or maintaining quantitative/statistical models through academic research, internships, or commercial experience.
Ability to clearly explain quantitative concepts, modelling approaches, and analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong analytical curiosity, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
Nice have
Practical exposure to one or more quantitative modelling techniques such as: time series analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, advanced regression and econometric techniques, advanced optimization techniques, including linear and non-linear programming, stochastic programming, and dynamic programming, machine learning.
Exposure to energy, commodities, electricity markets, or energy systems modelling.
Experience with forecasting, optimization, predictive analytics, or machine learning techniques in academic or commercial environments.
Familiarity with software development and deployment tools such as git, Linux, Docker, or Kubernetes.
Internship, research assistant, teaching, tutoring or other experience demonstrating strong communication and analytical capability.
Experience working with large datasets, simulations, or analytical software platforms.
Additional Role Context: This role is best suited for candidates with strong quantitative and analytical foundations alongside coding capability, rather than traditional software engineering backgrounds alone.
