Title: Queens County Reentry Taskforce Coordinator

Unit: Court Advocacy - Reentry

Reports to: Director of Outreach

Status: Full-Time; Regular; Exempt

Salary: $65,000

Location: Long Island City

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm, subject to change based on program needs

Position Summary:

The Queens County Reentry Taskforce (QCRTF) Coordinator is responsible for the overall performance of the Queens County Reentry Task Force and serves as the primary liaison between DOCCS, DCJS and the Taskforce, in the coordination and management of services provided to individuals on parole in Queens, for successful re-entry into the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate engagement of appropriate state and local partners in the QCRTF to ensure the availability of benefits, services, and community-level support to address the criminogenic and stabilization needs of the re-entry population;
  • Assist in the coordination and management of services provided to individuals to ensure their successful re-entry into the community;
  • Coordinate the scheduling of bi-monthly meetings of the QCRTF to review program progress in meeting DCJS contractual milestones and current re-entry issues;
  • Facilitate the bi-monthly meetings of the QCRTF;
  • Coordinate bi-weekly case conference meetings;
  • Coordinate monthly QCRTF orientations, held at Bronx Parole;
  • Coordinate 4 public education/outreach activities;
  • Ensure notification to DCJS, in advance, of all bi-monthly QCRTF meetings and submission to DCJS a copy of the planned meeting agenda along with attendance roster and minutes of prior meetings;
  • Educate QCRTF members about the QCRTF's role as a referral service designed to link returning individuals to necessary services;
  • Serve as the primary liaison with DOCCS to receive appropriate referrals;
  • Serve as a liaison between the QCRTF and DCJS;
  • Ensure completion and submission of all required reports to DCJS by established due dates;
  • Ensure prompt notification to DCJS and QCRTF Co-chairs of any barriers and limitations to the provision of QCRTF services;
  • Ensure prompt notification to DCJS and QCRTF Co-chairs of any critical incidents involving QCRTF operations, including its members or staff, specific programmatic services, and/or QCRTF participants, as well as any negative media reports; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manages the QCRTF Case Manager.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and engaging employees; addressing employee relations and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience:
    • Associate degree in criminal justice andfive years' experience working with the justice involved population; OR
    • Bachelor degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology or related field andthree years' experience working with the justice involved population;
  • Knowledge of the Transition from Prison to Community Model and Evidence Based
Principles strongly preferred;
  • Strong verbal, written communication skills and organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of community based service organizations;
  • Ability to coordinate service delivery in a multidisciplinary environment which provides services to justice involved individuals;
  • Proficiency with computer applications specifically knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications such as Word and Excel and/or database programs;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment;
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks necessary to accomplish goals;

Travel Requirements - Ability to travel to and from the Queens Parole office and various meetings at partnering organizations throughout the five boroughs.
