Job Title:               Quick Lube Technician

Department:          Service     

Reports To:           Service Department Manager

 SUMMARY

The Quick Lube Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and preventive services on customer vehicles while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This position supports the Service Department by efficiently completing maintenance services in accordance with Ford Motor Company and dealership standards while identifying additional maintenance needs through thorough vehicle inspections. 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform oil and filter changes on gasoline, diesel, and hybrid vehicles according to Ford specifications.
  • Complete tire rotations, tire pressure adjustments, and basic tire inspections.
  • Conduct comprehensive multi-point vehicle inspections and accurately document findings.
  • Check, inspect, and replenish engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, windshield washer fluid, and other vehicle fluids as needed.
  • Replace engine air filters, cabin air filters, windshield wiper blades, and other basic maintenance components.
  • Test batteries and charging systems and replace batteries when required.
  • Inspect brakes, belts, hoses, suspension components, and other wear items for safety and maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate repair orders, inspection reports, and technician notes.
  • Recommend additional maintenance or repairs based on inspection results.
  • Follow all Ford Motor Company repair procedures and dealership policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Properly operate shop equipment, tools, and vehicle lifts.
  • Comply with OSHA safety regulations and dealership safety policies.
  • Work effectively with Service Advisors, Parts Department personnel, and fellow technicians to ensure timely vehicle completion.
  • Participate in manufacturer and dealership training programs to improve technical knowledge and skills.
  • Ensure that customer vehicles are kept clean.  Notify the service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous automotive maintenance experience is preferred but not required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining productivity and accuracy.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in varying shop temperatures and conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate automotive lifts, power tools, and shop equipment.
