POSITION School Counselor (Part-Time)
Job Goal: To support the development of the whole child by providing academic, social-emotional, and career education to meet the diverse needs of all students and to collaborate with parents, teachers, staff, and the community to ensure all students are college and career ready.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Masters degree with a major in counseling • Massachusetts license as a school guidance counselor • Education and experience in ASCA national standards and state requirements
REPORTS TO Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, organizes, and delivers the school counseling curriculum. Implements tiered interventions. Monitors student progress on a regular basis. Collaborates with stakeholders, parents, staff, and the community to support students school success and provide responsive services. Collects and analyzes student data to provide individual and system support. Shares results as appropriate. Communicates effectively with the principal, school staff, and parents. Demonstrates cultural proficiency, sensitivity to differences in abilities and social backgrounds, especially when working with students with diverse backgrounds. Develops and implements educational interventions that are effective in meeting the needs of a diverse student body. Develops, implements, and monitors progress of individual, small, and group counseling interventions and services. May hold team meeting leader responsibilities. Fulfills all professional responsibilities. May provide IEP and 504 social-emotional behavioral and counseling services. Any other assigned duties by the Principal.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Typical office conditions, sitting, bending, stooping, filing, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds of office supplies • Close vision at or correctable to normal range
