POSITION Community Mentor
JOB GOAL Increase positive and safe school culture based on schools core values. Enhance student-staff relationships. Support at-risk students. Increase diversity of adult role models from communities that are currently underrepresented in the faculty and staff. Strengthen community connection to the school.
QUALIFICATIONS • Excellent relationship building skills with school-aged students. • Ability to communicate effectively with adults. • Experience working with youth of diverse cultures and socio-economic statuses.
REPORTS TO Principal and Dropout Prevention Coordinator
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES • Connect and provide mentorship to students at BIS and schools across the district. • Work to provide community resources to students. • Assisting staff in developing positive school culture. • De-escalate situations within a calm and appropriate manner. • Participate in a BPS mentor training as a part of on-boarding.
COMPENSATION Unaffiliated 35-hour up to 15 hours per week
