R&D Engineer - Medical Device - Westerly, RI

The R&D Engineer is supporting the development of new wire, cable, and cable assembly products used in advanced medical applications. This role is driving projects from concept through production while partnering with customers, suppliers, and global engineering teams to commercialize new technologies.

Description

This R&D Engineer will be responsible for:

• Developing cable and cable assembly designs and manufacturing processes.
• Supporting product qualification and transferring products into production.
• Identifying and resolving technical risks within cable assembly projects.
• Collaborating with customers, suppliers, and global manufacturing teams.
• Managing cross-functional development projects to meet timelines and profitability goals.
• Supporting CAPEX initiatives, equipment selection, tooling, and process improvements.

Profile

A Successful R&D Engineer will have:

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in wire & cable, cable assembly, catheter assembly, or medical device manufacturing.
• Understanding of cable manufacturing materials, connectors, tooling, and fixturing.
• Experience with extrusion, molding, and cable production environments.
• Experience automating manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of QMS requirements, BOMs, routers, work instructions, and PFMEAs.
• Functional CAD software experience.
• Project management experience using tools such as Gantt charts and MS Project.
