R&D Engineer
Location: Greater Phoenix Area

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing, validating, and bringing new products to market.
  • Specifying precise new product functional requirements; designing, testing, and integrating components to produce final designs; and evaluating the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
  • Designing, developing, executing, and evaluating fitness-for-use testing, product specifications, and process validation plans; creating and reviewing material part specifications and bills of materials.
  • Collaborating with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability.
  • Utilizing CAD (Computer-Aided Design) or CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
  • Researching, designing, developing, modifying, and verifying components and systems for medical devices with minimal supervision.
  • Translating user needs into design inputs/specifications and producing system-level designs.
  • Developing and analyzing solutions, prototyping one or more options to provide proof of concept.
  • Applying fundamental and some advanced concepts, practices, and procedures for problem-solving.
  • Supporting problem solving, root cause analysis, identifying potential solutions, and evaluating them against requirements.
  • Developing bench testing methods, conducting measurement system analysis, and developing DOE.
  • Conducting research and studies to support product design.
  • Demonstrating an advanced understanding of customer needs and design inputs.
  • Demonstrating proficiency with the product’s intended use and clinical procedures.
  • Learning how the financial models are constructed.
  • Supporting Voice of Customer sessions internally and with clinicians to develop an understanding of customer needs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and validate components and systems for medical devices.
  • Experience with CAD/CAE modeling and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Ability to translate user needs into functional specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and designing testing solutions.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, design controls, and risk management in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with vascular device engineering.
  • Knowledge of developing test fixtures and verification/validation testing methods.
  • Ability to communicate technical plans clearly to team members, leadership, and project managers.
  • Proven influence and results-driven mindset within cross-functional teams.
