R&D Lab Technician

Position Overview

Trilogy Flavors is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Lab Technician to support product development, sensory evaluation, and lab operations. This role assists Flavorists with preparing, applying, and evaluating raw materials and finished flavors to achieve strategic business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

\n

• \n
• Compounding: Gather raw materials to compound formulas according to project requirements.
• \n
• Ideation & Development: Assist with creative ideation and product development under Flavorist guidance.
• \n
• Application: Apply flavors to finished products for tasting and evaluation.
• \n
• Lab Operations: Manage inventory, maintain equipment, and uphold strict safety and sanitation standards.
• \n
• Sensory Evaluation: Set up and execute lab-level sensory testing.
• \n
• Project Support: Assist with customer meetings and trade shows.
• \n
• Collaboration: Communicate project updates and timelines effectively with cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications

\n

• \n
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• \n
• Experience: 12+ college credits OR 4 years of lab experience; background in food manufacturing, food safety, or commercial kitchens. Demonstrate Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacture Practice (GMP).
• \n
• Technical Skills: Basic cooking, solid math (formulas and metric conversions), and strong PC skills.
• \n
• Soft Skills: Problem-solving, time management, teamwork, flexibility, decision-making, and strong written/verbal communication.
• \n
• Physical: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
• \n

Preferred Qualifications

• B.S. in Food Science or a related field.
• \n
• Intermediate Excel, PowerPoint, and cooking skills.
• \n
• Experience handling confidential data.
• \n
• Interest in consumer food trends
