    This position contributes to our vision by:

    • Researches new materials, processes and concepts to facilitate continuous improvement in seat design.

    .• Researches new materials, processes (materials and manufacturing), seating systems, weight reduction for seats, cost reduction for seats, improvements in manufacturing and assembly efficiency, structures and load paths, and industry trends to facilitate continuous improvement in seat design, certification, and manufacturing.

    • Ensures compliance to established schedules for tasked research projects.
    • Coordinates with outside suppliers and vendors.
    • Coordinates with internal departments, including but not limited to purchasing and operations.
    • Assesses the ability of the material and process to be produced according to Safran Seats USA specific application requirements and material specification.

    Job Requirements

    • Must have a Bachelors degree Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Plastics Engineering, Structural Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree or 12 years equivalent related experience based on education and or experience in lieu of degree.
    • Must have a Masters degree Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Plastics Engineering, Structural Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree.
    • Must have a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Plastics Engineering, Structural Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree.
    • Plus an additional 5 years of engineering-related experience (Applicable experience may be acquired prior to, during, or following completion of degree) with Bachelors degree
    • Plus an additional 3 years of engineering-related experience (Applicable experience may be acquired prior to, during, or following completion of degree) with Masters degree
    • Plus an additional 0 to 1 years of engineering-related experience (Applicable experience may be acquired prior to, during, or following completion of degree) with PhD.
