The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Radiologic Technologist 2 (Cath Lab Rad Tech 2) is a highly skilled member of the cardiac procedural team who assists physicians with complex interventional cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures. This role operates fluoroscopic and ultrasound equipment, manages devices and supplies, and ensures adherence to radiation safety and quality control standards. This role also provides training and guidance to staff and students, helping maintain high standards of care and procedural excellence.

 

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology required

Experience

  • 1 year of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab required
  • Annual demonstration of proficient cath lab radiologic technologist proficiency required
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and arrhythmia recognition or completed the basic arrhythmia course and passed the exam within 12 month of hire required

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • CRT - State of California Certified Radiologic Technologist required
  • CRTFP - State of California Radiologic Tech Fluoroscopy Permit required
  • ARRT - American Registry Radiologic Technologists required

One of the following is preferred

  • ARRT(VI) - ARRT Vascular Interventional Radiography
  • ARRT(CI) - ARRT Cardiac Interventional
  • ARRT(CVI) - ARRT Cardiac-Vascular Intervention (still valid but not available for new examinees)
  • RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
  • RCES - Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
