Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist plays an important role in supporting diagnostic imaging services and delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

The Radiologic Technologist works within the [Department information not provided] team to perform radiology and fluoroscopy examinations ordered by physicians. The Radiologic Technologist collaborates with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure accurate imaging, exceptional patient experiences, and safe clinical outcomes. The ideal candidate for the Radiologic Technologist role has the education, experience, and certifications necessary to independently perform diagnostic imaging procedures, provide safe patient care, communicate effectively with healthcare teams, and maintain technical proficiency within a complex clinical environment. Hourly Rate: $40.00 per hour (Per Diem, non-negotiable)

Responsibilities

Technical Skills, Accuracy, Communication & Critical Thinking

  • Perform radiology and fluoroscopy imaging examinations using approved protocols and procedures
  • Provide high-quality patient care within a dynamic, complex, team-oriented clinical environment
  • Review imaging orders and clarify questions before performing patient examinations
  • Demonstrate clinical competency and function independently without direct supervision
  • Review patient studies for accuracy and ensure appropriate coding and charging
  • Identify and communicate gross pathological findings to the radiologist when applicable
  • Conduct quality assurance activities on imaging equipment and collaborate to resolve image quality concerns
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with providers, patients, guests, and team members using approved communication tools
  • Maintain technical accuracy and minimize imaging errors to established standards
  • Accurately enter and maintain data within PACS, imaging equipment systems, electronic medical records, and other computer systems

Patient Care & Safety

  • Provide care in a safe environment free from hazards and maintain full attention during procedures
  • Apply age-specific criteria when performing patient care duties and imaging procedures
  • Analyze and resolve patient care concerns through critical thinking and appropriate intervention
  • Correct issues as they arise and notify leadership when assistance is needed
  • Verify patient identity using approved identification methods
  • Implement safety and fall precautions and communicate patient needs to team members
  • Recognize signs of patient distress and initiate emergency response procedures as required
  • Document incidents, variances, unusual circumstances, and patient concerns appropriately
  • Administer contrast agents as appropriate and follow sterile or aseptic techniques when required
  • Review medications and allergies and adhere to the five rights of medication administration

Equipment, Compliance & Radiation Safety

  • Maintain safe, clean, organized work areas and ensure supplies are available for procedures
  • Complete required equipment, procedural, and emergency checklists
  • Protect patients from ionizing radiation by following ALARA and Image Gently guidelines
  • Provide lead shielding when applicable and monitor technical imaging parameters
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of routine imaging protocols and procedures
  • Perform specialized imaging procedures with limited assistance
  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly to the DI Engineering Team, supervisor, and manager with necessary details

Service, Productivity & Efficiency

  • Demonstrate professionalism and exceptional customer service in all interactions
  • Maintain high productivity levels and actively support overall patient care activities
  • Assist with patient movement and escort patients between designated care areas when needed
  • Support peers and nursing staff to optimize departmental operations
  • Manage patient flow efficiently and minimize delays through effective problem solving
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability while meeting operational needs
  • Complete all assigned duties and provide verbal handoff communication at shift change
  • Perform downtime procedures during system failures and report to leadership for reassignment as needed

EDUCATION

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent and
  • Successful completion of an accredited program by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
