Radiation Control Technician 3 – Nuclear Facilities (DOE/LANL)

Location: Los Alamos, NM | 100% Onsite

Compensation: $37–$43/hr + shift differential eligibility

Schedule: Full-time | May include 24/7 rotating shifts and weekend assignments

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required

Clearance: Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide radiological and operational health physics support across LANL facilities and high-hazard areas
  • Conduct workplace surveillance, interpret radiological data, and ensure compliance with 10CFR835 and radiation protection procedures
  • Review and support radiation work permits, posting compliance, and facility design input
  • Mentor and guide junior technicians in contamination control, exposure management, and procedural compliance
  • Respond to radiological emergencies and coordinate re-entry strategies with health physicists
  • Supervise other technicians during field assignments as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
  • 5+ years of experience as a Radiation Control Technician in a DOE, nuclear, or equivalent high-hazard environment
  • Proficiency in 10CFR835, radiological posting, and contamination control procedures
  • Experience with RWP development, review, and execution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • DOE facility experience, especially at a national laboratory
  • NRRPT certification
  • DOE Core Training Card
  • Experience supporting nuclear operations, hot cell work, or glove box operations

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS - READ BEFORE APPLYING

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
  • Must have 5+ years of RCT experience in a DOE, nuclear, or equivalent regulated environment
  • Must be able to work 100% onsite in Los Alamos, NM including rotating shifts and weekends
