As a Radiation Control Technician (RCT) Team Supervisor, you will play a critical role in maintaining robust safety programs and providing technical field support to ensure the safe and compliant use of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation sources, accelerators, and nuclear materials. You will work closely within the Radiation Protection Group in our Environment, Waste, and Radiation Protection (EWRP) Department to oversee and direct the work of the Radiation Control Technicians (RCTs) who support radiological work across the Laboratory.
This role provides subject matter expertise on radiation protection, radiological materials, and radiation-generating devices to the entire Laboratory radiation worker community, which includes supporting World Class scientific facilities such as the Advanced Light Source synchrotron, the 88-Inch Cyclotron, the Berkeley Lab Laser Accelerator Facility (BELLA), the Molecular Foundry, the National Center for Electron Microscopy, the Glenn T Seaborg Center and many other facilities of note using radioactive materials or radiation generating devices. The RCT Team Supervisor will also have the opportunity to support significant projects such as the Advanced Light Source Upgrade Project, the search for Element 120, the upgrade to the 88-Inch Cyclotron ion source and continued novel accelerator research and development at the BELLA.
The incumbent ensures compliance with regulatory requirements by managing key program documents and applying sound judgment in the implementation of policies and procedures.
The position directly supervises non-exempt Radiation Control Technicians (RCTs) within the Radiation Protection Group.

Appointment type: This is a full-time career appointment, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay.
Salary range:
The RCT Team Supervisor Level 3 position is expected to pay $135,000 - $164,000, which fits within the full salary range of $119,580 - $201,780. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, certifications, and aligned with the internal peer group.
The RCT Team Supervisor Level 4 position is expected to pay $158,000 - $194,000, which fits within the full salary range of $140,748 - $237,504. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, certifications, and aligned with the internal peer group.

This position will involve access to hardware, commodities, and technical information subject to export control regulations, including, but not limited to, the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR") and/or International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR").
