Duties:
Reviews patient prescriptions to ascertain type of treatment required, location of effected areas, history of previous radiation treatment, etc.
Safely positions patients utilizing immobilization devices.
Utilizes appropriate treatment accessories as prescribed by the physician.
Operates treatment machine (linear accelerator, HDR) precisely.
Administers ionizing radiation as prescribed per physician.
Verifies radiation prescription prior to treatment and confirms total radiation dose following treatment in patient charts.
Documents treatment in inpatient charts.
Localizes patient markings daily.
Completes on-going imaging of patients per departmental policy.
Assists patients in coordinating appointment time for daily treatments,
accommodating patient transportation, and other appointments.
Refers patients to social worker for counselling, transportation and medical equipment needs, etc. as appropriate.
Refers patients to nurse or physician for conditions requiring evaluation, as appropriate.
Assumes the duties of simulation.
Rotates through treatment areas as assigned.
Responsible for cleaning therapy rooms and work area; maintains linen and medical supplies for treatment rooms.
Adheres to the quality assurance policies of the department (chart checks, timeouts, machine warm-up, etc.).
Teaches radiation therapy students as defined by their educational requirements.
Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.

Working Conditions:
Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
Lifting of patients, moving & pushing wheel chairs / stretchers and lifting of equipment, above head, up to 50lbs.
Potential exposure to radiation; however, adherence to safety procedures minimizes likelihood of danger.
Frequent interaction with emotionally depressed and terminally/critically ill patients.
Education:
Education Required
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Certifications/Licensures Required:
A.R.R.T. Radiation Therapy Technology Certification or registry eligible.

Schedule: M- F, 7:30 - 4:00 Preferred experience with Varian and Aria Clinic located on the main campus in Detroit.
Would be working on True Beams and would be working with 1 or 2 other individuals on shift. No On Call No Weekends.
