Role Overview:
  • Provide radiation therapy treatments to patients.
  • Assist in planning, treating, and monitoring patients as part of the oncology team.
  • Work closely with physicians and care staff to ensure high-quality and safe treatment.
  • Maintain compliance with radiation safety standards and professional guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and team members.
  • Promote a positive, supportive, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Deliver radiation therapy sessions accurately as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Perform simulations, select positioning aids, and fabricate immobilization devices.
  • Monitor and assess patient condition and treatment side effects daily.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding treatment and expectations.
  • Follow strict safety, infection control, and radiation protection protocols.
  • Perform machine warm-ups, operation checks, and documentation as required.
  • Complete accurate procedure documentation and validate charges.
  • Use resources efficiently and manage time effectively.
  • Participate in professional development, in-service programs, and continuing education.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an approved radiation therapy education program.
  • Licenses/Certifications Required:
    • CMRT – Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (State License).
    • ARRT – Radiation Therapy (T) certification. New graduates must obtain ARRT (T) within 3 months.
    • BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA).
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to use Radiation Oncology Information Systems and basic office software.
  • Strong teamwork, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
Work Conditions:
  • Uniforms or scrubs may be required.
  • May require on-call availability during emergencies.
  • Travel may be required within the Houston Metropolitan area.
