Job Summary
Under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses clinical skills to accurately simulate on CT simulators, deliver, verify and record routine courses of treatment. Assumes shift accountability including machine warm-ups. Utilizes independent judgment and problem solving skills in communicating with patients/families and employees.
Essential Functions
Accurately performs routine radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Accurately follows, maintains and completes the electronic patient electronic treatment record on a daily basis. Responsible for general dose calculations.
Charges correctly at point of service on a daily basis.
Assumes shift accountability for maintenance of quality services. Responsible for opening the department and competent in machine warm-ups. Responsible for completing the crash cart checklist if called in on day department is closed.
Accurately simulate basic treatment fields (3-D planning) in a timely manner and collects all pertinent simulation information as well as entering pertinent information in the approved departmental and hospital based record and verify system. Cuts blocks for treatment if required.
Respectfully identifies the educational needs of patients and family members/students/health care professionals and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals.
Actively participates in the achievement and maintenance of patient satisfaction scores.
Cleans, disinfects and maintains supplies and equipment in the treatment and simulation rooms. When time permits thoroughly cleans and straightens control area and treatment/simulation rooms.
Required to have one call weekend per calendar year if available at site
Qualifications
Required Vocational/Technical a related field; graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program
Preferred Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field
CRT-Radiation Therapist - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist 60 Days required
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC client 90 Days required
