In this role, you will work under the general supervisor of the Chief Radiation Therapy Technologist and your functions will include:

• Applying ionizing radiation according to MDs prescription (3D IMRT, SBRT, SRS, HDR) • Patient scheduling and appointments • Performing dose calculations • Treatment data entry • Working with physicians, physicists, and dosimetrists to perform simulations and treatment planning CTs

Salary for Radiation Therapist: $64.68 - $85.34 hourly

Job Qualifications

Required: • ARRT License • CRT License • BLS CPR from American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Skills: • Working with different types of treatment machines such as MR Scanner, CT Scanner, HDR units, and Linear Accelerators • Recognizing when hazardous conditions may exist • Inspecting treatment machines to assure they conform to present standards • Organizing and coordinating material, patients, and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort • Prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, machine breakdowns, heavy patient volume, and emergency cases • Ability to lift cerrobend blocks weighing up to 35 pounds • Knowledge of basic physics as applicable to Radiation Therapy • Ability to use an electronic calculator to perform dose calculations • Communicating various technical aspects of Radiation Therapy at a level understood by patients • Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information, explain treatment procedures, and to clearly convey information to medical staff, patients, and administrators • Knowledge of a variety of treatment techniques to assist physicians in treatment planning to ensure optimum treatment is given to all patients • Recognizing and reporting any adverse patient therapy reactions • Knowledge of the principles and applications of thermo-luminescent dosimeters • Reading documents written with medical terminology and ability to read and implement computer-generated physics treatment plans • Knowledge of basic nursing procedures • Working knowledge of University procedures regarding isolation of immuno-suppressed patients
