    Job Requirements

    Position Summary

    Under the immediate supervision of the department manager, Radiation Oncologists, and RNs in Radiation Oncology department the Patient Care Associate assists the physician and nurses in the complete care of the therapy patient and carries out nursing duties as prescribed by the physicians. The Patient Care Associate promotes a positive attitude to ensure a high level of care. The Associate runs errands and transports patients when necessary; they assist the patients from wheelchairs into exam rooms as needed.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

    • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program

    License/Registration/Certifications

    • Current ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy
    • License through SCQRSA

    Preferred Requirements

    Preferred Experience

    • 1 year in a progressive radiation oncology department

    Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

    • Member of the ASRT
    • Member of the SCSRT

    • Must be able to withstand the stress and demands of an active position
    • Must be able to withstand many long hours of standing, Walking, stooping, bending and sitting
    • Must be able to lift or move patients and equipment as needed
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
    • Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination and adequate vision needed in daily operation of high-tech equipment
    • Must be able to respond calmly and efficiently in a crisis situation
    • Must be able to lead and direct work of others to insure organization and accuracy in all areas
    • Must be able work as team member with peers, departmental staff, as well as other hospital staff
    • Work independently and be on call after hours as assigned
