Minimum Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy from an accredited program.

• ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy required.

• Valid New York Radiation Therapist state license required or must be obtained during onboarding.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a radiation therapist.

• Experience operating Varian TrueBeam and Varian 21iX preferred.

• Ability to accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters in an electronic medical record.

• Knowledge of NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols.

• Ability to observe patients for reactions and communicate adverse events to the oncology team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a hospital radiation oncology department.

• Experience interpreting computerized treatment plans.

• Shift hours: 07:30-16:00.

Impacting Patient Care

The radiation therapist administers ionizing radiation and radioactive substances under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with New York State Department of Health Code Part 16. Responsibilities include positioning patients, verifying treatment plans and dosages, operating and maintaining high-voltage radiation equipment, monitoring patients for adverse reactions, and documenting treatments. The therapist must display professional conduct and facilitate technical problem solving to support patient safety and treatment accuracy.
