    How you'll contribute

    A Radiation Therapist who excels in this role:

    Core Clinical & Technical Responsibilities

    • Patient and Treatment Verification: Review patient identification, diagnosis, treatment prescriptions, and medical records to ensure accuracy and readiness prior to treatment.
    • Treatment Simulation and Setup: Perform CT simulation and treatment setup procedures using established protocols, including accurate patient positioning, immobilization, imaging, and treatment measurements.
    • Radiation Treatment Delivery: Safely and accurately deliver prescribed radiation treatments under the direction of the radiation oncologist, utilizing advanced radiation therapy equipment and techniques.
    • Patient Monitoring and Safety: Maintain continuous visual and audible communication with patients throughout treatment. Perform required timeouts and monitor patients for changes in condition, treatment response, or adverse reactions.
    • Treatment Equipment Operation: Operate linear accelerators, CT simulators, and related radiation therapy equipment in accordance with departmental policies, manufacturer guidelines, and established safety standards.

    Radiation Safety & Quality Assurance

    • Radiation Safety: Consistently follow radiation safety practices and departmental protocols to protect patients, staff, and visitors from unnecessary radiation exposure.
    • Equipment Quality Assurance: Perform daily equipment warm-ups, safety checks, alignment verification, and other required quality assurance procedures. Promptly report equipment concerns or deviations to the appropriate supervisor, medical physicist, or service personnel.
    • Treatment Accuracy: Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure treatment plans, imaging, positioning, and treatment delivery are performed accurately and consistently.

    Patient Care, Communication & Documentation

    • Patient Education and Support: Explain treatment procedures, expectations, safety precautions, and communication methods to patients and caregivers. Provide compassionate support and help alleviate patient anxiety throughout the treatment process.
    • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Communicate effectively with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and other members of the radiation oncology team to promote safe, efficient, and coordinated patient care.
    • Clinical Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate treatment records, including treatment documentation, patient positioning and markings, imaging, and required electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
    • Charge Capture: Ensure accurate documentation and submission of applicable treatment charges in accordance with departmental and organizational procedures.
    • Professional Practice: Maintain competency in radiation therapy procedures, equipment, technology, and safety practices while adhering to departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

    What we're looking for

    • Education: Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy or equivalent required; Diploma/Certification in Radiation Therapy required

    • Certifications: Basic Life Support; certfication in Radiation Therapy

    • License: Current ARRT registration and certification in Radiation Therapy (R.T.T)

    • Experience: 2 years related experience

    • Skills and Abilities: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
